The next PlayStation State of Play is tonight and it will “focus on upcoming and third-party releases

If you want to see a batch of new trailers for major third-party and PlayStation 5 games you won’t have to wait long. Sony has confirmed a new State of Play will be broadcast tonight and will focus on upcomining third-party and indie titles. It’s scheduled to start at a reasonable time of 7AM AEST and can be watched live right here.

The news comes via a tweet posted by Sony’s official PlayStation X account with a link to the official blog. The announcement says the showcase will be “about updates to previously announced games coming to PlayStation consoles — from indie and PS VR2 highlights to major upcoming titles from our third-party partners.”

There have been plenty of speculations about which games could feature at this year’s State of Play, especially following June’s blockbuster show that gave fans an early look at Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part II and more. Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to be one of Sony’s biggest releases this fall, so a story trailer and gameplay showcase would be very fitting. Similarly, Naughty Dog is expected to expand its post-apocalyptic universe with The Last of Us Part II and Guerrilla Game’s Horizon Zero Dawn multiplayer may be featured too.

Sony has a strong third-party lineup as well, with titles such as Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 set to be featured on its PlayStation platforms this year. A new Tekken 8 trailer is highly likely, and it’s very possible that DLC for Street Fighter 6 will also be shown during the event. Insomniac’s upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will probably get its own standalone showcase too, as that isn’t due until October and it’s an important in-house title for the publisher.

The new State of Play will be streamed across YouTube, Twitch and TikTok so it should be easy for anyone to watch. If you’re not a fan of streaming videogames and prefer to read about them, you can stay updated on all the big reveals through Eurogamer’s live blog.
